FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTIONS

(Q) How durable is the image?

(A) Images are digitally reproduced and applied to the surface of the ceramic tile. Tiles are coated with the only RN Certified tile coating in the United States. The RN Coatings were developed by U.S Photo Coatings and are of the highest quality for sublimation coatings. The Dura-Satin coating is a living Polymer coating, this coating carries the color and is extremely durable and scratch-resistant. The color is applied at 400°, turning the dyes into gas and impregnating the image into the surface of the specially coated tile. This is not a decal. Because the image is applied to the surface, it is subject to wear under heavy traffic. The surface is UV protected, but caution should be exercised to direct sunlight applications. Tiles are for decorative purposes.

The tile surface is recognized as being the hardest and whitest in the industry. UV light inhibitors are included in the coating process to minimize fading from harsh lights and sun. Our tiles are warranted for decorative use only some have been installed as a kitchen backsplash, bath vanities, showers, and as design elements in custom furniture. The ceramic tile is not recommended for floor applications. Not recommended for high UV exposure.

(Q) What image sizes are available?

(A) Each of the design tile images (silhouettes) can be sized to fit any proportional size, fitting on one tile or over several tiles. The full-color mural sizes are posted next to images and have some limitations – email: sizemoredick@gmail.com or call: 208-709-8907 for detailed information.

(Q) Can ceramic tile be used in freeze/thaw conditions?

(A) Ceramic tile is porous and under some conditions, it will absorb moisture. Sudden temperature changes can cause expansion resulting in breakage. Normal shower wall and kitchen backsplash applications have no problems.

(Q) Are tiles suitable for use on floors?

(A) Images on ceramic tile, are applied to the surface. The image is subject to wear under heavy traffic. We recommend our Textured Glass Floor Tile for floor and countertop applications. The image will not wear off.

(Q) Full-Color Murals – sizes?

(A) Images are taken from original paintings. Sizing the image larger than the original painting is not recommended. . Images are adjusted proportionately to fit your space. Some adjustments to the image may be necessary to prevent a key element, such as an eye, from falling into a grout line.

(Q) Can tile be installed outside?

(A) Not recommended.

(Q) Should the tile have a sealer coat applied?

(A) Ceramic Tile – A sealer coat is OK but not needed because the image is sealed into the surface of the tile. But you will want to seal the grout, sealing the grout will not harm the image.

(Q) What can I use to clean the tile?

(A) Mild soap. No abrasives or harsh chemicals. Tiles can be cleaned with any household non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge.

(Q) Will I be able to match other tile colors?

(A) Probably not.

With image tiles, it is best to work with a complementary contrast. Using a border tile is a great separator from your field tiles and enhances the mural. Our tiles start out white and then the color is added. If you are trying to match white with white it most likely won’t work. Split orders can even be a little different in color.

(Q) Can I get a color sample tile?

(A) Yes. Caution, color sample tiles must be acted on quickly and treated as a close representation only. Some color differences can occur with tile lot and system upgrades. We are constantly upgrading our operation to produce the highest quality product possible. The only way to get tiles that color match is to order all at the same time, so the order can be produced at the same time. Ordering two or three tiles one time and weeks later ordering more tiles to match is very risky for a true color match.

(Q) Are the tiles suitable for a walk-in shower?

(A) Yes. Caution: Tiles are ceramic which means they are porous and should not be installed on the shower floor. I recommend that you keep the image tiles at least 12 inches above the shower floor so the water can clearly runoff. Also, not recommended for steam rooms or saunas. There is just too much-concentrated moisture in these locations for the ceramic tile.
